Getting Started

SnapSlim compresses your iPhone screenshots to free up storage space. Screenshots are surprisingly large — a single iPhone screenshot can be 5–10 MB. SnapSlim re-encodes them using high-quality JPEG compression while keeping them visually sharp. You can typically reduce a screenshot by 95–98% (e.g. 8 MB → 150 KB) without any noticeable quality loss for everyday viewing.

No — your photos never leave your device. All compression happens 100% on-device. We have zero access to your photos, screenshots, or image content. The only data that goes to our servers is your account info (from Apple Sign In) and usage counters (how many screenshots you processed today).

SnapSlim uses Sign in with Apple — the same fast, private login you use for other iOS apps. Tap the Apple sign-in button and authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID. You don't need to create a separate username or password. Apple can optionally hide your real email address using a private relay address.

Yes — SnapSlim needs permission to read and write to your photo library so it can find your screenshots and save the compressed versions back. When iOS asks for permission, select "Allow Access to All Photos" for the best experience. You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy → Photos → SnapSlim.

Using the App

  1. Open SnapSlim and sign in
  2. On the Home screen, use the slider to choose how many screenshots to compress (up to your daily limit)
  3. Tap Slim Now
  4. SnapSlim compresses your most recent screenshots and saves them back to your photo library
  5. Your Today's Usage and stats update automatically

Daily limits reset every day at midnight:

  • Free: 5 screenshots per day
  • Monthly / Yearly: 50 screenshots per day
  • Lifetime: Unlimited screenshots

Your current usage is shown on the Home screen under "Today's Usage".

SnapSlim replaces the original screenshot in your photo library with the compressed version. The original is not kept separately after compression. If you want to keep originals, we recommend backing up to iCloud before using SnapSlim, or enabling Recently Deleted (compressed photos can be recovered from the Recently Deleted album within 30 days if you delete them via the Photos app).

This can happen if:

  • Photo permission is not granted: Go to Settings → Privacy → Photos → SnapSlim → change to "All Photos"
  • No screenshots exist: SnapSlim detects only screenshots (taken with Side + Volume Up). Regular photos and burst photos are not counted
  • Simulator: If you're using SnapSlim on an iOS Simulator (development testing), all photos in the simulator library are counted since the simulator doesn't distinguish screenshots

The Slim Now button is disabled if:

  • Your screenshot count is 0 (see above)
  • You have reached your daily limit for your current plan
  • A compression is already in progress

Check your Today's Usage card to see how many you have left for today.
